Statement of Intent<\/h4>

At Wood Ley CP School, the children and their learning are at the very heart of every decision made. We aim to develop learners who are passionate, take ownership of their learning and are proud of their achievements.<\/p>

The ethos of our school is such that all people who come into our school, whether staff, pupil, parent or visitor, are valued as individuals in their own right. They should set, and be entitled to expect from others, good standards of behaviour, marked by respect and responsibility.<\/p>

The school will help the students to develop an inner discipline and will encourage pupils to not just \u2019follow the crowd\u2019- they will make up their own minds and be ready to accept responsibility for what they do. They will grow through making choices and holding to the choices that they have made. They will want to be honest with themselves and with others.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Spiritual Development<\/strong><\/h4>

Children\u2019s spiritual development involves the growth of their sense of self, their unique potential, their understanding of their strengths and weaknesses and their will to achieve. As their curiosity about themselves and their place in the world increases, they try to answer for themselves some of life\u2019s fundamental questions. They develop the knowledge, skills, understanding, qualities and attitudes to foster their own inner lives and non-material well-being<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Moral Development<\/strong><\/h4>

Children\u2019s moral development involves acquiring an understanding of the difference between right and wrong and of moral conflict, a concern for others and the will to do what\u2019s right in their own and other cultures. They are able and willing to reflect on the consequences of their actions and learn how to forgive themselves and others. They develop the knowledge, skills, understanding, qualities and attitudes to make responsible moral decisions and to act on them.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Social Development<\/strong><\/h4>

Children\u2019s social development involves acquiring an understanding of the responsibilities and rights of being members of families and communities (local, national and global) and an ability to relate to others for the common good. They display a sense of belonging and an increasing willingness to participate. They develop the knowledge, skills, understanding, qualities and attitudes to make an active contribution to the democratic process in each of their communities.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Children\u2019s cultural development involves acquiring an understanding of cultural traditions and the ability to appreciate and respond to a variety of aesthetic experiences. They learn a respect for their own culture and that of others, an interest in others\u2019 way of doing things and curiosity about differences. They develop the knowledge, skills, understanding, qualities and attitudes to understand, appreciate and contribute to culture<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Our school values are extremely important to us. We work hard to actively teach and promote these values at Wood Ley. Above is our timetable of Values.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

We hold a special Values Assembly at the end of each half term when one child from each class receives a certificate for their outstanding demonstration of the Value over the past few weeks. They also get a golden ticket which they can use to get a new book from our book vending machine!<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
